An amazing, demanding, sometimes grueling adventure from the high mountains of Telluride to the desert of Moab, Utah. We start in the San Juan
Mountains, often referred to as the "Alps of America". Sometimes in June
the snow is still piled up on the sides of the road. Telluride is a quaint
town tucked in a box canyon, therefore surrounded on three sides by high
peaks with one road in and the same road out. Our ride out takes us over a
10,000 foot pass where we'll camp for the night in the pine forest.

The views of Mt. Wilson, Wilson Peak and El Diente, all Colorado 14ers,
will keep you going on the way. In just a few days you won't believe how
far you've come. We'll stand atop the Uncompahgre Plateau at 8,500 feet and
look across the long valley to the pass we camped on the first night. We
might have a heard of elk in the meadow next to camp tonight or hear the
coyotes.

Our journey drops us into the Dolores River Valley where we find ourselves
surrounded by towering red rock cliffs. Of course between us and the end of
our ride stands the La Sal Mountains. The La Sals are "volcano wanna-bes"
and jut out of the desert floor to a height of 12,700 feet. Fortunately we
don't have to go over the peak, we skirt around the north shoulder and camp
for the night in a flower patch above Fisher Valley.

Just when you think your outdoor experience couldn't get more interesting,
we visit a dinosaur track twice as big as your Sidi's. Tucked in the scrub
oak, there are no signs to this little treasure.

The long miles have made us strong and we ride into Moab as a grand finale.

Telluride to Moab - The trip was a great chance to ride in the “wilderness” with full support. I would never have cycled though a place like this without people who knew the area."
