"This was our best trip
ever with Western Spirit. I had a permanent grin
with all those whoops." - Dennis Hahn,
April 2006
Fruita,
Colorado is a town that is becoming one
of the most well known places in the world to
ride rip roaring singletrack trails alongside
some of the most spectacular desert scenery imaginable!
Many of the trails in Fruita ride tangent to the
spectacular Colorado River, offering picturesque
pit stops in between the awesome climbs and adrenaline
pumping downhills. From scenic Mary's Loop, to
the hair-raising ups and downs of Chutes and Ladders,
there is a ride here for every rider and ability.
Mary's
Loop - One of the better known beginner
to moderate rides in Fruita is Mary's Loop which
is about 6 miles west of Fruita. This ride offers
a nice mix of singletrack and wider doubletrack
trails. Mary's Loop offers unsurpassed views of
the mighty Colorado River from high above. There
are a few points with steep drop-offs during the
ride that you'll want to be extra careful. If
you are afraid of heights, it is best to walk
your bike through these areas. The ride takes
about 2 hours, and is accessed from the Loma Exit.
As with most things, Fruita can be a
whole lot more fun with a guide. Why
not have Western Spirit Cycling cook your meals,
offer you a cold one at the end of the ride, and
make sure you are covered every mile along the
way with support vehicles, a healthy dose of humor
and insight, and even a top of the line bike rental?
Western Spirit guides have been riding and playing
in the Fruita area since the beginning, so we
know where the fun stuff is? Our clients often
come back year after year to have the time of
their lives on two wheels.
